New Poetry Collection: S. Su’eddie Vershima Agema’s I STUMBLE INSIDE ME LOOKING FOR SUNLIGHT Now Available

SEVHAGE is pleased to announce the publication of I STUMBLE INSIDE ME LOOKING FOR SUNLIGHT, the new poetry collection by Nigerian poet and writer S. Su’eddie Vershima Agema. The collection marks another point in Agema’s continuing engagement with memory, home, nationhood, love, loss and the many ways in which people search for meaning and light amid personal and collective uncertainties.

In I STUMBLE INSIDE ME LOOKING FOR SUNLIGHT, the inward journey suggested by the title opens into wider conversations. The poems move between the personal and the communal, carrying questions of belonging, relationships, country, memory and survival. At different turns, they are intimate and questioning, tender and troubled, returning again and again to what it means to keep reaching towards light even when the way is uncertain. The collection continues a poetic journey that includes Bring Our Casket Home, Home Equals Holes and Memory and the Call of Waters, which was won the Association of Nigerian Authors Prize for Poetry and shortlisted for the 2022 Nigeria Prize for Literature.
