SEVHAGE is a publishing house, a non-profit and writers collective operating in England and Nigeria to promote arts, literature, and life in several communities. The vision of SEVHAGE is to take literature in every society it operates to far higher heights and make it an enviable and attractive venture. To this end, several activities and promotions for literary events like Guest Writer Sessions, Critique Sessions, Promotions and Competitions are organized, mainly in collaboration with various partners that include or have included the London School of Economics, the University of Sussex, Eunice Spring of Life Foundation, and other literary/developmental similar organisations.
One of our key projects is the annual SEVHAGE Prizes [available HERE], a free-to-enter group of prizes across genres with differing prize monies and publication opportunities for winners and shortlisted entrants. We also host the Benue Book and Arts Festival, the SEVHAGE Festival, and many other literary and development events in England and Nigeria, with our sights set on extending our reach to other countries in the nearest future.
SEVHAGE, which has been in operation since October 2012, has published more than 60 titles internationally, a good number which have won, or been nominated for recognized literary prizes such as the $100,000 NLNG Prize for Literature, the Wole Soyinka Prize for African Literature, the Mandela Day Literary Prizes, the Association of Nigerian Authors’ Annual Literary prizes, and PEN Nigeria/Saraba Poetry Prize. SEVHAGE authors include outstanding writers and academics like Professor Hyginus Ekwuazi, Professor Dul Johnson, Professor Sule E. Egya, Professor Victor Dugga, Professor Saint Gbilekaa, Dr. Maria Ajima, Omadachi Oklobia, Lady Helen Uche Ibezim, Bash Amuneni, Tope Fasua, Damian Terkaa Jam, Terseer Samuel Baki and Su’eddie Vershima Agema. Our books have inspired several readers globally, and our publishing house has become a reference point helping many writers realize their literary dreams. They rank among recommended readings in schools from primary to tertiary institutions and for civil society.
SEVHAGE is also proud to be a major founder/sponsor/partner for several literary festivals and activities in Nigeria and the United Kingdom including the annual Benue Book and Arts Festival and the 2019 Black History Month of the University of Sussex, and the Ubuntu Cafe at the London School of Economics.
