PRESS RELEASE: INCREMENT TO THE E. E. SULE/SEVHAGE PRIZE FOR AFRICAN LITERARY CRITICISM 2024 [DEADLINE: 21st July 2024]

SEVHAGE is delighted to announce that the prize money for the E. E. Sule/SEVHAGE Prize for African Literary Criticism 2024 has been increased from ₦100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) to ₦285,000 (Two Hundred and Eighty-Five Thousand Naira). This increase was made possible through the kind generosity of an anonymous donor, in recognition of the work we are doing as an organisation to encourage writers, and to continue giving visibility to hardworking creatives.

While this annual prize honours Professor Sule Emman Egya (a.k.a E. E. Sule) @emmanegya, it is sponsored and administered solely by SEVHAGE [SEVHAGE Publishers/SEVHAGE Literary and Development Initiative – and mostly from funds of its members]. This is the same for the other amazing authors and scholars in whose names we have bestowed prizes of differing monetary value since 2019.

We remain open to collaborations and partnerships for other prizes (mainly in poetry and Creative Non-Fiction) and the SEVHAGE Festival, scheduled for the last quarter of the year.

For further details and submission guidelines on the E. E. Sule/SEVHAGE Prize and/or the K & L Prize for Fiction (worth N600,000 in prizes), our short fiction category, please visit https://sevhage.com/prizes.

The deadline remains 21st July 2024.

For media inquiries, partnerships, or sponsorship, please contact sevhageprizes@gmail.com.

We are grateful to everyone who has supported us through the years and now, those who have said kind words, and all those doing their bit to ensure they make things better in little or big ways.
