๐ The Distinguished Panel of Judges: This year’s panel of judges consists of amazing writers, editors, and critics, led by Professor Hyginus Ekwuazi, a multiple award-winning writer and Vice Chancellor of the prestigious Dominican University, Ibadan, Nigeria. Our panel of judges awaits your mesmerizing tales, essays and soul-stirring verses.

๐ Categories to Showcase Your Genius: In the spirit of artistic diversity, SEVHAGE Publishers and SEVHAGE Literary and Development Initiative, and Konya Shamsrumi (for poetry) have curated four categories for you to dazzle the world while earning prizes in the Naira:
- SEVHAGE-KSR Hyginus Ekwuazi Prize for Poetry (N61,700.00) ๐๏ธEntrants, craft a masterpiece with up to 40 lines, letting your poetry soar like the African skies.
- SEVHAGE Prize for Short Fiction (N61,700.00) ๐Unleash your storytelling prowess through a captivating short story of 3,500 words maximum.
- SEVHAGE Prize for Creative Non-Fiction (N61,700.00) ๐Share your extraordinary experiences and perspectives in a 2,000-word creative non-fiction piece.
- E. E. Sule/SEVHAGE Prize for African Literary Criticism (N100,000.00) ๐Put on your thinking cap, delve into African Literature or literary theory, and present your well-researched essay of up to 6,000 words.
๐ General Guidelines for Submissions:
- Open to Africans worldwide.
- Your submission must be a never-before-published original work, ensuring that your brilliance remains unique.
- Email your submission as a single Microsoft Word doc attachment (Times New Roman font, 1.15 line spacing, font 12) to sevhageprizes@gmail.comย following this format:
- Subject of the e-mail should read your category.ย For example, ‘SEVHAGE Prize for Creative Non-Fiction 2023′ for Creative Non-Fiction.
- In the body of the email, includeย YOUR NAME, YEAR OF BIRTH, COUNTRY, RESIDENT ADDRESS CITY/RESIDENT COUNTRY, TITLE OF YOUR ESSAY, CATEGORY OF ENTRY, EMAIL ADDRESS, CONTACT ADDRESS and CONTACT PHONE NUMBER.
- Keep it anonymous! Don’t include your name anywhere in the attached document – just in the body (refer to Number 3)!
- A single entry to showcase your talent – no resubmissions allowed. Make sure it’s polished and ready to dazzle!
- All entries will be judged impartially, and shortlisted writers contacted via email by November.
- Selected entries might be published online and/or in print by SEVHAGE.
- By entering, you grant SEVHAGE the honour of publishing your work online or in print.
- The judges’ decision is final.
- Shortlisted writers in the various categories will be informed by email by November 2023. If you do not hear from us by then, it means your work unfortunately didn’t make the cut.
- Non-Nigerian winners will be paid via PayPal or Lemonade.
- Winners will be announced in December 2023.
